Exam time is upon us. You know, that time of the year that effectively puts a damper on the most wonderful time of the year? Where instead of being nestled snug in your bed with visions of sugarplums dancing in your head, you are cooped up in Gov Docs ‘til 3 AM with calculus equations cramming your brain.
Amidst all the stress and studying, a few pick-me-ups will probably be in order. When the Grinch (also known as Wake Forest) keeps you in the ZSR well past Brynn’s, Zack’s and Coldstone’s closing time (10 PM F.Y.I), here is the simplest, quickest, most delicious way to beat the exam-time blues. This brownie takes TWO minutes to make, is cooked in the microwave, and is made entirely with Sundry-available ingredients. Happy studying!
Mug Brownie
Ingredients:
4 Tbsp flour
4 Tbsp packed brown sugar
2 Tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder (or use hot cocoa mix and add less of the brown sugar)
2 Tbsp canola or other mild vegetable oil
2 Tbsp milk, coffee or water
Directions:
Stir the dry ingredients together in a mug until no lumps remain. Stir in the oil and milk until you have a thick paste.
Microwave on high for a minute, checking it after 30 seconds (microwaves vary) – it will be done when it’s springy on top but still a bit gooey.
Additives that I would highly recommend:
- instant coffee
- cookie dough
- chopped up candy bar
- spoonful of nutella or peanut butter
