We’ve officially entered into the New Year, and it’s time to reflect back on those artists and movies that were truly memorable. Entertainment is always reaching some new height, and this past year seems to have topped all expectations. With Academy Awards, Grammys, and Screen Actors Guild Awards up for grabs, the competition is endless. We’re revving up for the night of all nights with our own stand-out picks.
- Rise of the Planet of the Apes: Director Rupert Wyatt achieved large amounts of success with his take on one of the most beloved film franchises of all time. With James Franco in tow, this movie stole the hearts of many.
- Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close: A heart-wrenching and inspirational story of a nine-year old boy, clouded by grief over his father’s tragic death, searches New York City for a lock to match the mysterious key left behind by his father. This movie hits close to home for one too many, but its message is truly beautiful.
- The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo: This movie, based off of the national best-selling Millennium Trilogy, was practically destined for success. Incorporating crime, drama, and mystery, viewers were captivated by journalist Mikael Blomkvist’s desperate search for a woman who has been missing for over forty years.
- Party Rock Anthem, LMFAO: This has undoubtedly been the anthem that has graced its way into the basements of Wake Forest frat houses. Its success is self-explanatory and its lyrics are a classic favorite.
- Super Bass, Nicki Minaj: In the words of Nicki Minaj, “This one is for the boys with the boomin’ system.” Nicki Minaj has done it again with this chart-topping hit. The catchy beat and refrain is subject to win some type of recognition.
