It is not hard to hear about the upcoming Wake ‘n Shake dance marathon at Wake Forest this spring. The dance marathon is not until March 24, however just last week Wake held a concert also benefiting the Brian Piccolo Cancer Fund. The concert included Wake Forest’s Chi Rho, Demon Divas, Plead the Fifth, and Innuendo; and it was able to get students rallied for the fight against cancer.
Wake Forest’s Brian Piccolo Cancer Fund has been supported by Wake ‘n Shake and its pre-events for years and this year is no different. This event will bring together the people of the Wake community for one reason, to share a passion for finding a cure for cancer. The fund has been around for thirty two years and has raised over $1,200,000 for the Comprehensive Cancer Center at the Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center. The Wake n Shake dance marathon’s goal is to raise awareness for the fight against cancer and raise money at the same time. Their slogan is “It’s about being a part of something that is bigger than yourself,” which helps to bring students and faculty back to the pro humanitate motto Wake prides itself on.
