Paul’s Fine Italian Dining proves that you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover. On Robinhood Road, the outside of the building didn’t look quite as “fine” as the name of the restaurant suggests, but the inside set my mind at ease.
We were seated at a table with crisp white linen and fresh flowers that added a romantic touch to the evening while soft music played in the background. Our waiter promptly brought freshly baked break to the table and spouted off an impressive list of specials including several tasty-sounding seafood dishes. However, I decided to stick with an Italian favorite Pollo alla Parmigiana while my date opted for something more daring - Pollo alla Scarpariello, which is chicken and sausages in a garlic sauce.
We started off our dinner with a delicious appetizer, or antipasti if you prefer, Mozzarella & Pomodoro made of tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and basil. It was a very refreshing and light treat to have on a warm evening. My Pollo alla Parmigiana was served with a side of pasta topped with a deliciously spiced marinara sauce. The chicken was tender and breaded to perfection with just the right amount of cheese melted on top. My date was a little more willing to try something new, and said his Pollo alla Scarpariello was excellent, though some of the pieces of chicken were a little tough. On a side note, watch out because this chicken is served bone-in.
Overall, Paul’s Fine Italian Dining was a fine treat indeed, but it also came with a large price tag. Most of the entrees are between $15 and $20. You’re definitely paying for the ambiance, but what a charming ambiance it has. It’s a fantastic place to take a date if you’re willing to unload some cash, but it might not be the best place to hang out with your pals.
